How difficult is Yrliet romance?

My idea was to go for a Jae romance for my first iconoclast run but I don't like the synergy with her and my rogue trader. I am playing a former Astra Militarum Commander that is disillusioned and a bit melancholic towards the dogmatic approach so not a very outgoing party guy.
I know there is more to Jae but I find myself bending too much my char for the romance to work with all her pranks and playing around-

I found the interactions with Yrliet way more fitting for my rogue trader and I kind of want to restart my run to go for her romance.

Long story short, How hard is it? I really hate using guides but since this is the special romance and knowing Owlcat I am sure you can easily lock yourself out. Is there a "simple advise" for it or do you say that one really needs to follow a strict guide?
