The world through my eyes
I gaze upon the world and I see a million films unreel In the giggles of a child, in the groans of an oldie Grayscale, technicolor; paint my retinas with different values As they coax out a million stories from a million different views
Haplessly a bard, insurmountably a fanatic Turning blood flesh and grime into something romantic Cleave my heart, I bleed life into the mundane And weave humanity out of lints of the ordinaire
The cracked heels, the chipped teeth and the rugged knees Faces covered in molten chocolate, hiding under the sheets Dog-eared corners in books and splattered ink on hands Hearts in margins or glass of toxins or that sacred special glance
These eyes are insatiable, scraping out humanity From apparent nothings, from sublime cavities "Listen to the whispers of the world," they begged me "Look around, they're waiting to caress you gently."
So I relinquished rationality a long time ago The world a saga and I watch the pages unfold I snuggle with these stories and they keep me warm: The intricacies, the tangles, the simplicity and the calm.
