Georgia is insanely drop dead gorgeous, like I am NOT denying that whatsoever. But it also kinda scares me that people excuse the *literal child abuse* and *murder* she engages in solely bc she is beautiful and charming. On one hand, that’s part of the point the show is making. That people who are beautiful and charming can manipulate and lie their way out of a lot of things someone ugly or unlikeable might not be able to as effectively. On one hand, it’s one of the best portrayals of abusive narcissistic parents I’ve ever seen on TV, and does an incredible job portraying the things that happen out in the community vs behind closed doors.

On the other , it works a little *too* well, and fans of the show go so far out of their way to deny the reality of who/what Georgia is, which is a serial killer, child abuser, and grifter, and it’s not even up for debate in my mind. We *know* for a fact she does evil things, we see it on screen. We see her choose her pride and her image over her children over and over. We see her dismiss her children’s feelings and perspectives repeatedly.

The fact that anyone can say Georgia is a good mom is insane to me. I recognize it’s just a show at the end of the day, but man. If people are willing to excuse someone they KNOW killed innocent people and abused/neglected her children because she is beautiful and likable. The terrifying thing is that there are real life Georgias in the world, where there is no audience behind closed doors. Where nobody sees the worst of it first hand like we do. People are willing to turn a blind eye to the signs more often then not, no matter how blatant or clear, and direct evidence of abuse before their eyes. It contributes greatly to the abuse that is RAMPANT in our society.

It hits so hard when Ginny expresses in the show how frustrating it is that her parents are so attractive. Especially when she’s expressing her frustrations with her parents to her friends, and gets derailed by them talking about how cool her mom is, or how sexy her dad is. It takes me back to trying to open up to friends who knew my mom about the abuse she put me through. Because they thought my mom was cool, she couldn’t possibly be abusive. It’s the exact same energy as someone being friends with someone who hurts/wrongs you on a consistent basis and saying “well they’re nice to *me* “

My mom is not… beautiful. She does not take care of herself or her appearance and it shows. I can only imagine how much harder it would be been for me if she was. It would have cut down on the amount of work it took her to manipulate people she did.

So again, I recognize this is a show. For a lot of people, this is just entertainment, and they haven’t experienced a lot of if any of the situations first hand. So it makes sense to think Georgia is beautiful. It’s just for me this show connects to very personal experiences from the past, and it’s hard sometimes to see people romanticize people like Georgia. God, it’s an amazing show , and no hate to anyone who does Stan Georgia! Just my perspective

This show and a portion of this fan base makes me glad my abusive mother isn’t conventionally attractive
