How to prevent tarnish on cheap jewelry

I saw someone use a mod podge spray on cheap jewelry. I’m normally a real gold girl but now I want to try some fun costume jewelry to elevate my outfits. Does this actually work or is there a better spray I can use to seal them so they don’t tarnish? Asking before I purchase a bunch of jewelry from shein.
