Personal Experience: How I Saved Money Making My Own Non-Toxic Cleaning Products
I used to spend a small fortune on "eco-pleasant" cleaning products, but the cost really started adding up. I figured there had to be a cheaper way to keep my house clean without all the harsh chemicals, so I started experimenting with making my own.
It's been surprisingly effective and significantly cheaper. For example, I make an all-purpose cleaner with just water, vinegar, and a few drops of essential oil (usually lemon). It costs pennies per bottle compared to the commercial stuff, and it works great on most surfaces. I also use baking soda and vinegar for scrubbing tubs and sinks – another super cheap and effective combo.
Beyond saving money, I feel better knowing exactly what's going into these cleaners and that I'm reducing plastic waste. Has anyone else made the switch to homemade cleaning products? What are your favorite recipes or tips? I'm always looking for new ideas!
