Applying for a UK (England) provisional driving license with no surname and just given name(s) on my passport- anyone done with this?
Hi all,
I’ve just moved to the UK and want to apply for a provisional driving licence. My Indian passport all it shows under Given name(s) is “my first name and middle name ” (two words). In India that’s fine, but I’m worried about how the DVLA form and future UK systems will handle it.
I’m stuck on: 1. D1 / online form – There’s a separate “Surname” box and a “First name and middle name” box. • I cant really leave the Surname box empty (or stick a hyphen “-” if the portal insists) and just type “MY FULL NAME” in the First-names box?
As I don’t use my surname and i just have my first and middle name on every other document including my passport.
If anyone here has actually applied for a UK licence (provisional or full) with a single-name passport – Indian or otherwise – I’d love to hear how it went, what you filled in, and whether you ran into any bureaucracy afterward.
Thanks a ton in advance! 🙏
