First "Official" Photoshoot Ever this weekend!

Hey Nikon folks! Just wanted to say thanks to this sub! I took a bunch of portrait shots with a friend and their dogs and it was a blast. I'm not a pro, not trying to go pro, but I really haven't shot portrait photography before and that's was my next 'frontier.' One of the pups is getting old and they didn't have any formal photos together, so it was awesome.

Without this sub, I wouldn't have known about refurbished gear or the quality/characteristics of certain lenses, so I just wanted to say thanks. Super helpful group here and a lot of smarties.

I used a Nikon Z7II with the 50mm 1.2, and it enabled me to do 3 things that I've really always wanted to do. 1) Capture photos for big prints, 2) get good background separation even relatively close, and 3) just take really high quality images. The detail never gets old to me. I'm coming from an a6000, which I truly loved.

Still gotta work on my composition and photo-readiness. Got a lot of good ones, but some of the photos I thought were perfect, I missed the focus or the exposure was off, so more practice needed!
