Unsolved murder I saw on a Haunting Documentary
From what I remember it was 19th or early 20th century, in a small town (I think but I'm not sure, in the USA) and a whole family was murdered in their home. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Villisca Murders but it was very similar. It also wasn't Hinterkaifeck or Lawson. I'm not positive it was an axe murder but I know those were common in that period so it's likely. The thing that stood out to me was the family had taken a photo with a man no one in the town recognized and of course this was when taking a picture was a big to do. They were seen earlier that day (maybe church or community event) and not only seemed normal but didn't mention a visitor. It was unsolved so not a murder suicide or anything like that. The documentary was either a one off with several stories or a miniseries I think. It wasn't one with paranormal investigators like Ghost Hunters but one where they just talk about supposedly haunted places and their histories. It's possible it had details wrong or flat out made it up but I know there were a lot of lesser known family (usually axe) murders from that time, so I feel it's likely real. And if it is fake, I'd like to know that too.
