Is soccer really as hated in Texas as King Of The Hill makes it out to be, or was the episode just stereotyping?

OG KOTH Discussion

I get that high school football is a big deal in Texas, in that people try to pass student-athletes for that reason, and on certain weekends nights others in the town buy tickets to wash the game (and that high school basketball is similarly a big deal in Indiana). I also get that soccer is not as big on a macro- level here in America. America has never made finals in the World Cup or Olympics, and professional soccer is not as popular here as professional football, baseball, basketball, and still even hockey. However I am from upstate New York, soccer has been the biggest child youth sport here for the last three decades, and in general according to much American media, and even becoming so for middle school and even high school (although our high schools still have homecoming football games but no other homecoming games), tho still not college. My brother was on the middle and high school soccer teams and in three soccer clubs. The phrase “soccer mom” applies to much of American suburbs, and transcends both Democrats and Republicans. The KOTH episode made it like the teams have weird names and have to tie the games. Does soccer really have that much hatred in Texas, and is it really that rare in Texas?
