Question for L&D nurses

When my baby was born the doctor kept saying the baby pooped on her way out. Ok, cool, got it. But she kept saying it. Even adding details like ‘it was the baby, not you’ 👀 She said it so many times I started to think maybe it WAS me. L&D nurses, is this a thing? To just say it was the baby to spare mom the embarrassment!?
