Need help getting rid of strong odor

open

Hello! I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but I hope someone here can help. I purchased a gorgeous mid century, original wood credenza, only to discover after it was delivered that the inside smells terrible…like incredibly strong perfume. According to the person I bought it from, it was owned by one person for 60+ years, and it smells like it 🫠 (she also said it didn’t smell when she had it but I don’t see how that’s possible).

I’ve tried everything that’s been suggested on the internet to remove/block the odor: white vinegar, baking soda, coffee grounds, airing it out, industrial strength odor elimination spray, and 3 coats of shellac, but nothing has gotten rid of it. The shellac helped a little but it’s still way too potent to use it.

Is there anything else I should try before completely giving up and selling it? More shellac? Odor blocking primer? I’m open to any and all suggestions. TIA!
