Need “small talk” topics to begin conversations with a person I am interested in
Hello everyone. The title says it all. I consider myself a very social person, but I tend to struggle a bit to begin conversations with strangers. I include some context below regarding my situation.
There is this lovely girl who is one of the property managers of the department I am renting. She is the person who has guided me since the beginning with all the documentation, and she is the person I always contact whenever I have questions. I have recently had problems in my apartment, and thus, I have seen her more often over the last weeks, which has led me to become more interested in getting to know her. We have had some short conversations and from what I can tell, she feels very comfortable around me, since we have been able to make some jokes. I would love talking to her for longer period of times when I visit her at her office, but I do not feel very comfortable because she is obviously in her workplace.
I know that the obvious solution is to ask for one of her social network accounts, but I would prefer to interact more in person until I feel more confident and build a closer connection with her. The problem, as I mentioned before, is that I can only visit her once per week and can only chat with her for maybe like 5-10 minutes; thus, I would like to have a variety of creative small talk topics that can help me gather information about her interests. I have already used the classic "talk about the weather”, and it already paid off, but I cannot keep using the same topic all the time haha.
So far, I know that she is native from the city I am currently living in, she likes chocolates and sweet cocktails and she prefers colder weathers, if that helps.
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you.
