it’s been a difficult year [21m]
I’ve gone through a lot this past year with the loss of my grandmother, my relationship of 1.5 years, graduating college, finding housing, and just trying to maintain my peace despite it all. After losing my grandmother and then my relationship, I felt the need to find somebody who could bring me comfort again because it felt incredibly lonely with everything I had gone through. I hopped into a relationship with this guy [23m] who’s been fun to be with. At times, I’ve felt like he truly cares for me but still I don’t feel satisfied. He’s been busy this past July with family engagements and hasn’t had much time to spend with me even though we only live 20 minutes from one another. A majority of our hangouts have been quick and honestly kinda rushed. All I really want from him is one-on-one time that doesn’t feel rushed. Perhaps, that’s something unrealistic for him to provide right now but he never plans for those things to happen ahead of time. It feels like it’s always me who asks if we can do those longer hangouts and when I offer them, he says he can’t “commit” to them because he doesn’t know if he’ll be busy that day. Well, isn’t that the whole point of trying to figure out a time that can be settled upon? Anyways, bottom line is that I don’t feel like a priority. I’ve been questioning myself and thinking that maybe I’m “too clingy” that the amount of times we see each other is “normal.” But I honestly don’t know. He’s not that great at communicating, he’s told me that “he feels like he’s spreading himself thin” and that it’s hard for him to manage all his commitments (which includes me). It seems like he simply isn’t ready for a relationship. I’m tired of writing about all this but what does the community have to say about all this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Truly🫶
