Looking for place to move from Northumberland. Only been here few years. Sheffield been catching my eye from whats been said, Leeds being the follow up. I can visit for a few days...maybe a week. Advice on place to aim for as I wont have time to look at the whole place.
Im looking for simple mundane stuff to get the best feel as I can. Issue is I can only go so many places, so Id rather pick one area to get a really good feel for instead.
Interests:
Asian markets and restaurants, especially Korean as I am Korean myself. Diversity is important for me. I know its not much, but compared to here, seems better. I swear I see the same 2 asians in the past 3 years here.
Markets and decent food in general. I go market sometimes twice a week and actually enjoy it haha.
Family oriented area. It seems like very student oriented? See lots of student accomodation on renting sites. As someone who is in late 30s with a child now. Saw an old post someone saying West Sheffield?
Safety, heard feels quite safe there which is quite important now.
Schooling and nursery.
Affordability. Seems sheffield seems decently affordable while being alright places to rent. Everything inside looks relatively...modern? Maybe its because I am in blyth...but everything seems run down here.
Im not really into pubs, sports, clubbing, any of that kind of stuff. I would not mind going to a pub, but it be more to join someone else.
And I know this is sheffield sub, but anyone can compare to Leeds? From the sounds of it both are similar? Leeds having better centre? But it seems its more for the pubs and such.
