Am I Supposed to Break The Law To Get Deliveries?

Question

So here’s the situation. I was doing an alcohol delivery through Uber Eats. The order was placed by a woman, but when I arrived, she didn’t come to the door. Instead, she sent some random guy outside to collect the alcohol. He hands me his ID, but guess what? His name is nowhere on the order.

I told him I couldn’t give him the order unless the ID matched the name on the app. Simple, legal protocol, right? That’s when the woman inside starts yelling at me, swearing I don’t know what I’m doing because she “used to deliver for Uber” and claims I can accept any ID as long as the person is 21+. I told her flat out: that’s illegal. That’s literally against the law and against Uber’s alcohol delivery policy.

She finally, and very rudely, comes out and hands me her ID. I complete the delivery and IMMEDIATELY call Uber Driver Support to explain what happened, just in case she tried to retaliate. They assured me her feedback wouldn’t affect my rating. I’ve got screenshots of the call log to Uber AND a screenshot showing she lowered the tip (shocker). I also have proof that that same day I was Platinum status… but the next morning, bam, I’m dropped to Green.

Now everyone at support keeps telling me I’ve got “one of the highest ratings in your area” but they “can’t do anything” about why my rating is stuck in Green. No one knows what’s wrong, but I know damn well what changed, that customer’s complaint. Uber even apologized for not being able to fix my status because there was no way for them to remove her feedback, thus admitting it was her feedback thst brought my status doen. They then would circular reason their way back around to one customer's rating wouldn't change my status. Then the real icing on the cake was they sent me $5 compensation?

So let me ask the room: Should I have just broken the law? Is that what Uber wants from drivers? Break the law, hand out alcohol to whoever shows up, no ID check, just so I don’t piss off a customer and get nuked behind the scenes?

Because that’s what it feels like. Follow the rules, lose your status. Break the rules, keep making money.

So which is it, Uber? Because out here, doing things by the book is clearly a penalty.
