Loneliness + Lack of a friend group in college

I go to a pretty good tier 1 NLU and the first sem started recently but the problem is that l have no friend group here. I mean I had a friend group before college started like through whatsapp and all but that disintegrated super soon and now everyone in that group has other friend groups.

I have some friends, but all those people have their own friend groups and I'm just stuck in the middle of all of them. Also I consider myself an extrovert which means I like being around people, but well, no one wants to be around me. I've tried to join the friend group of some people that I find nice but I just don't feel like they want me with them, it feels so BAD to be that one guy following the group around. Like they discuss their plans and all infront of me and never think of inviting me.

Another issue is that my roommate is like in the top 5 of the most popular people on campus. We have a good relationship but whenever someone comes to our room its always for him and never for me, and that irks me so fucking much. I iterally wanna pull my hair out because of how often it happens, "xxxx kahan hai?" bsdk mujhe nahi pata usse call kar na fucking hell.

I haven't had a stable friend group since 10th grade and honestly I feel like crying whenever i reminisce on those times. It fucking kills me. Please batao what should I do in this situation. I really want a friend group to go out with in a new city, have late night talks and just do all the college bakchodi that normal people do. Instead, when my classes end and I go to my room, I got no one thinking of me after that. Honestly wish I was a dayscholar.

One thing that may be contributing to the issue is that I joined the college like one week later cus I got sick at the start so many people already had some friends by that time. However even people that got in through vacancy much later have established friend groups and have fared much better than me. The friend group that I tried to join had 2 people from vacancy.
