How I Split Vocals and Make Quick Side Hustle Videos

My Experience

Back when Audition hadn’t taken over Cool Edit, I was learning to edit audio. My mentor told me, “Want to separate vocals from the instrumental in a song? Good luck.”

When I started teaching others, I’d repeat the same thing. Once audio’s mixed, it’s like salt in water. You can’t fully separate it. We’d mess around with AU, FL Studio, and a bunch of plugins, but the results were always so-so.

Now, AI makes it super easy. Upload a song, and in a few seconds, it splits out the vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano, you name it.

And you can choose another way. Just text does the trick. I’m a huge sci-fi fan, so I’ll take a piece of a novel, make a voiceover with AI, throw in some auto-generated visuals and chill music, and there you go: a short video that grabs people. I’ve tried it a few times, and they’ve come out pretty great.

Here are some AI tools to check out:

  1. GPT for making images. The free version has limits and can be slow unless you pay.

  2. AIVocal for voiceovers. It’s solid, but you’ll need clear audio if you want a specific voice.

  3. Icon Generator AI for creating logos or icons. GPT or Grok can do this too.

  4. ClipMaker for automatically picking out clips and turning them into hype videos.
