Anyone take sleeping medicine long term?

I have schizophrenia. I was in the hospital for a month and a half. They gave me ambien, it did nothing. Only lunesta worked but I’m told it’s not meant to be taken long term. I wish I could sleep. It’s 7am now.

Has anyone taken medicine for sleep long term? If so, what is it?
