My Review
Before I begin let me just say that I actually enjoy the gacha genre, I'm not a hater, I knew this game was going to be gacha ahead of time and I was excited for it. I wasn't a player who expected a proper FM title and was surprised to see a mobile gacha game.
This is my opinion put out for people to read, or not read, to ponder or not ponder. If it gives you something to think about, great! If it doesn't, that's fine too. I'm not here to argue with people or convince them that I'm right and anyone who disagrees is wrong. Y'all can and will make up your own minds about the game, I'm just putting out one of many perspectives.
TLDR: Mecharashi attempts to be a good TBT and a good gacha game, and ends up being mediocre at both.
For people who understand and can appreciate the gacha F2P genre, Mecharashi is surprisingly greedier than most, is less generous for free players than most, and constantly throws up artificial progress and difficulty roadblocks to encourage you to swipe.
There is an actual game here, unlike most gachas, which is a positive. You actually have to play the game. You have to use tactics. You have to deploy the right units, make the right moves, think about what you're doing. It's not braindead easy, and you can't just let the AI autobattle through it. It was honestly quite refreshing at first, and I was ready to give this game a positive review.
But there's a good reason why most gacha games are braindead easy. It's so players that get bad luck with RNG, bad pulls, bad characters and weapons, and generally just bad accounts, don't get gatekept out of content and immediately quit the game.
This is not true in Mecharashi. Bad luck, bad RNG, bad pulls, bad random loot from missions, all of this will just keep you from progressing. You simply won't have the stats and skills to deal with enemy DPS and HP, no matter how good your tactics and strategy are.
Unlike other games where even if you get bad or non-meta characters/weapons/whatever you can still level them up and make do in the hopes of getting lucky later, in this game you can't. That level 1 weapon? That's always level 1. You can't level it up. It will never be a level 25 weapon. You need a level 25 weapon. If it does not drop in your 4 attempts per day, then you cannot progress for that day and you have to try again tomorrow. And maybe the next day. You could end up waiting for weeks to advance to the next mission.
Those B Rank pilots and mechs? Not something you can just use for now until you get better. Completely useless for progression. They only exist in the game to be bad filler so that you have to pull for the actual good stuff, and much later in the game's life you will be able to use them as materials to improve your good pilots/mechs, but they will not do anything to help you get to that point.
If this game were designed without the gacha mechanics, it would be a lot better.
If this game were designed to lean into the gacha mechanics by somebody that knows how to make a good gacha, it would be a lot better.
Unfortunately the gacha aspect is very poorly designed, even from the perspective of someone who likes gacha games. And it completely drags down the rest of the game, which would otherwise be actually not bad.
