Please take off your earphones when you’re paying at counters 😩

Just a small rant because I’m honestly burned out from today.

I work in the government as a tax collector, and part of my job involves dealing with long queues and explaining the same process over and over. It’s tiring, sure, but that’s part of the job. What’s not part of the job? Talking to people who won’t even take their earphones off while transacting.

Today, I had someone ask me the same question multiple times. I kept repeating the same answer, staying polite as much as I could. I was literally scratching my head in frustration, and then she suddenly started pointing fingers at me. Then she threatened to report me to my higher-ups, and I was like—go ahead, I’ll explain everything... you and your earphones.

She even threw my coin basket to the side like she was the one being wronged. I’m not here to make your day worse. But if you want to be treated nicely, the bare minimum is to listen the first time.

So please—if you're about to pay somewhere, do us a favour and take your earphones out. That one small action can save everyone so much stress.
