Boyfriend is pending results.

Hi all, so I recently started dating someone in the last 2 months. I dated someone for 5 years prior and then was single for 4 years with a few partners between. The last time I did a full blood panel was in 2023 and my panel was clean. He dated someone for about 5 years as well and then another for about a year and a half and has never been tested.

At the time we began dating we had both recently been involved with our long term exes again. That’s actually something we ended up bonding over. Once we started being intimate with eachother there was no overlap between us with our exes. About 2-3 weeks into us being sexually active the right lymph node in his neck got extremely swollen. It got better and worse over 3 weeks and he did go to the doctor, she ordered an ultrasound for him but the swelling went away so he never got it looked at again. I went and got tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea because his lymph node seemed to get worse after performing oral on me. Results were negative. Fast forward to month 2, about a week ago, he cut himself while shaving (on his shaft), we waited 2 days because of the discomfort and had sex as usual. (Unprotected and rough.) I use the honey pot vaginal wash and am wondering if this could have irritated his cut and potentially caused what happened 2 days later. He went to the bathroom and noticed a small cluster of skin colored blisters, the liquid inside was clear and they were very small and did not look irritated. Probably about 5-7 in the cluster, right above his cut, and right below his cut he had something that resembled a pimple that had been popped. This is all located within an inch of eachother. He also swears that the original “cut” is genuinely a cut. Now that it’s been a few days, the cut looks to be in worse condition than the scabbing from the doctor popped blisters and the other bump that formed.

We are awaiting his culture back from the doctor, but his doctor did say it looked like herpes. I have never had a cold sore, but since researching the last couple of days I realized I have had some symptoms recently that I never experienced before. I had a shooting pain in the back of my knee when sitting down at work the other day- and my butthole hurt really bad for about two days a week before his breakout. I also credited this as a sex injury from lack of lubrication (Not anal sex), but did not experience this for 2 days after our last encounter as well. Since his outbreak of whatever he is experiencing, we have not been sexually active. I just got a pimple on my lip that was difficult to pop, and I popped it anyway. I am experiencing tingling even though it is almost completely healed, so I’m really confused if it’s a cold sore or not. They seem to get worse before they get better from what I have learned, and mine did not tingle before trying to pop it, mmaybe I just popped the pimple early?

Anyways. With all of this going on, he decided to tell me the last thing his ex told him was that he should go and get tested. He did not think anything of it at the time, and failed to tell his doctor about our own encounter 2 days prior to the breakout. I’m feeling better about the research I’ve done, and have a blood panel scheduled for myself on Tuesday.

I guess im just kind of wondering if anyone thinks this could be anything else, what his clusters looked like originally looked similar to some photos of herpes, and some of contact dermatitis. And same for the scabbing now. He never had any crust. I know I’ve had some strange symptoms myself, but maybe they were poorly timed instances for what is going on now. Just looking for thoughts, he was feeling pretty down for a couple days, but whether he has it, or we have it, I am more than content to be with him. I just wonder what outside and better informed perspectives may think. If he does have it is it going to be super likely that I do too already? I’m not positive that my symptoms are really symptoms, but I know you can have it with no symptoms at all.

Also- I’m aware that we weren’t very smart with our decisions, but you live and you learn and we’re willing to face the consequences.
