AITAH if I prevent my son and husband to a solo vacancy?
Sorry for the grammar, non native speaker. So, I (45F) am married with Chad (45M) and have a teen daughter (16F) and son (13M), both in adolescence. My husband work in the service area and have three employees and can leave as he wants. I work a very demanding job in healthcare, and I have no PTO, so if I want a break I have to find someone who will do the work for me in my place, and I have to pay him directly. So, if I want some rest, I have to pay the vacancy and the one who is working at my place. The field I work in is very stressful so it's not easy to find someone who will work for you, so usually I am just happy to find someone, and I'm not picky about the time of the year of my vacation. This year I was lucky, and I found a colleague willing to work at my place in the early days of summer for a week, when school are already closed. We booked a place as family, but at the end we found that my teen daughter had to take additional classes for low grades and the school booked that very week. So we had only friday evening, saturday and sunday as a family to go on vacancy. I really love the sea, but my husband came to me and said that no one else in the family likes to go there, and so we chose to go to a country place near a tibetan bridge, which I can't go because I suffer of vertigo, and I stayed at the hotel by the swimming pool. The rest of the week he didn't plan anything special, like I stayed at home, no fancy dinner, no little trips to fairs, nothing, he said he was free but he went to work almost as usual. Fast forward, after about a month my daughter is invited at the sea by a friend's house, and I initially said no, as a punishment for the low grades. But after a lot back and forth, my daughter agreed to do voluntary work for a local charity and in exchange I let her go at the sea, which she enjoyed. Yesterday in a group of friend chat came out there is a party during a big summer holiday, and I'm going to go with all family. The friend that offered my daughter to stay at their house by the sea asked if her daughter can stay with us a few days to go to the party, and obviously I said yes. This morning my husband said to me that my son is unconfortable to have my daughter's friend stay at our house, and to avoid excalation he is going to go to the sea with my son for that weekend. I plainly told him no, that is not going to happen, because two month prior he refused to go to the sea beacause "only I love the sea" and if he thinks I don't remember he is dead wrong. Plus, it's very high season, so very high prices now, and very crowded. He asked if we could go together in a camping, but I flat out refused, as my idea of vacancy does non include sleeping in a tent and washing myself in a common room, adding all the duties of grocery shopping an so on. He caved and went to work without arguing, but I can tell he was surprised of my harsh reaction. Am I the asshole to forbid my husband and son to go to the sea without me beacause they refused to go when I was free and wanted to go two month prior sayng they hated that kind of holiday?
