Final Destination Bloodlines setting up for slasher sequels?

So I've just seen the new Final Destination film, it wasn't too bad, better then some in the franchise anyway (im looking at you FD3 & 4).

I feel like there was an emphasis on "escape death by dying or by killing". My theory now is that FD films might start pivoting towards disaster AND slasher flicks to inject new life (pun unintended) into the franchise. Anyone else have any thoughts?
