Narrative/Metafictional Anomalies

Can anyone explain to me the current abundance of SCP's being written about narrative/metafictional anomalies? I find them quite frustrating because they are not really that interesting. Mostly they end up being overly complicated and and trying to sound like they made some kind of surreal discovery in writing. Can't we just stick to good old fashioned anomalies in containment.
