Saw Superman yesterday.

I finally managed to get to a theater yesterday and do what I'd intended to do a few weeks back - see the new Superman.

I may post my review here, but the short version is I have nothing but praise for it. It took 47 years , but I've finally seen the live action Superman movie that, yes, I would say is better than the 1978 movie. If you knew me and understood how much I love the 1978 film and its first sequel, you'd realize what a monumental statement that is. In fay, I still maintain Christopher Reeve is the definitive Superman. But Corenswet comes within a hair's breadth and as an overall film, Gunn just delivers something that's the closest I've ever seen a live action movie come to feeling like a Superman comic book come to life. It has heart, it's be hikers and it completely understands why Superman is so beloved.

But I digress.

What I wanted to point out is that having seen the film, I understand now the Snyder cult is just hating to hate. I don't have the slightest idea why they would call this movie woke.

Seriously, follow me on this: The superpowered white guy is criticized for his actions and all of social media and society turns on him. He's imprisoned and essentially canceled and handed over to the person who ruined him.

Then the truth actually comes out and not only is it proven that all the information about him was deliberately misrepresented specifically to ruin his reputation and life, but in the course of this revelation it comes out that he was absolutely correct regarding the inciting intervention that kicks the entire series of events off, meaning he actually did the right thing. He called it.

Now, why am I presenting this summary through this lens? Because whenever these basement dwelling dipsticks throw out the "too woke" complaint, it's invariably a bunch of threatened white guys who don't want anyone playing with their toys (; I'm a white guy who's also a born and raised Floridian and I've seen a lot of this first hand).

And therein lays the problem: The superpowered white guy is shown to have been falsely accused and is completely vindicated, all while demonstrating unwavering empathy and courage the entire movie.

I understand that's not the filter James Gunn was presenting the story through, but if these Snyder Cut yo-yos are going to trot out the woke complaint, then I'm going to throw right back in their faces the fact that there's nothing in this movie that at all plays into identity politics.. Nothing. Kindness and compassion are not woke, they're characteristics of decent human beings. Seeing the good in people isn't weak, it's a strength. This movie doesn't elevate or diminish any one group over any other group.

I don't know what part of their collective asses these fruitcakes pulled this from, but it's abundantly clear their heads are wedged in there.
