Lamictal for Anxiety - Does it Work?
Hi all. I've been on Lamictal for almost 3 months now, being treated for severe depression and anxiety (which may or may not be related to BP2). Starting at 25mg, and with each dosage increase, I get a few days to a few weeks or relief from crippling anxiety and depression. But usually after 2 weeks it comes creeping back up. I'm at 200mg now.
I'm starting to wonder if this med is actually helping my symptoms overall or if it's just that I feel better at each step-up point cause it's a bit sedating when you increase dosage. My taper schedule has been 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, and now 200mg.
I've also been taking mirtazapine for anxiety, but take 15mg 3x a day, specifically because the sedating effect at 15mg helps my anxiety for a few hours, at which point I take my next dose.
It sucks, because when this med is "working" I feel normal, like my old self again. But it hasn't lasted long. I don't know if I should keep increasing dosage hoping for long-term relief or if I'm just barking up the wrong tree all together.
Any feedback is appreciated!
