What happened to Germany? (no, not about immigrants)
I'm from Poland, and staying in Berlin for the past two weeks. And this is not a rant about Berlin...
I've ordered a couple of packages via Deutsche Post. After a week, none is delivered. They're all stuck in the recipient's region (whatever that means) and there's no movements. It's been a week for each. Curiously, the recipient's region is different for each package, even if there's only one Brandenburg.
I understand that shit happens occasionally, but with three packages stuck it suggests a systemic malaise.
That's be unthinkable in today's Poland – I order a lot of stuff online, nearly everything via InPost and all is smooth, delivered within a day and two days would be a total emergency.
Similar story: my partner travelled via Deutsche Bahn. We assumed that the minimum connection time should be around an hour, and that's still too little: the train got delayed by 2 hours. A very simple journey turned out to be a nightmare of waiting in Köln for the next connecting train.
I had a very similar nightmarish story with Deutsche Bahn two months ago, when a simple train from Berlin to Rugen had similar delay, and even before departing I knew that I won't be able to make my connection.
What happened to this once great country?
I was born in Stettin, Germany was always the source of envy and now it feels like Greece, a country under severe austerity.
