Gemini has slowly become worse at parsing text over the last week?

Other

I'm not gonna rule out user error here, but aside from needing to clear a cache or something, I don't really know how I could be causing it to stop being able to read.

I've been using Gemini for some basic editing (grammar, punctuation, structure) on a manuscript, going chapter by chapter. Most chapters are around 6000-7000 words. It does pretty well with these, but it often seems to be unable to understand what it's seeing or reading.

I have to start new chats frequently. By the 3rd consecutive chapter in any given chat, Gemini has decided I am perfect and my writing is perfect and nothing needs to be changed.

It will tell me I should hyphenate certain words, and then give me a list of words that are currently, properly hyphenated.
When I say "Hey Gemini, those words are all already hyphenated, what do you mean?" it's like 'Oh, silly me. You're right, they sure are. What else can I do for ya?'

Sometimes when it gives me example sentences, it'll just change the tense completely or omit entire lines and then critique *me* for it. I have to search my original texts and be like "That's not what I wrote" and then Gemini is always like "Oh yeah, it sure isn't. My bad."

I asked it a question about dialogue structure, using a passage written as dialogue to ask it. In a brand new chat with the Writing Editor gem.

It gave me like 3 full pages of feedback on that dialogue, entirely based on it apparently missing every time I used periods, commas and quotation marks.

"Gemini, I *did* use all of those things in that example."
"Oh, you sure did. My feedback was based on me being a silly goose. What else can I help you with?"

It wasn't like this a week ago. It was sharp and responsive, but now I have to third and fourth guess everything it says.

Any clues?
