I think it’s a dinosaur movie but i can’t remember

help.. I’m trying to remember the name of a movie I watched as a kid (I was born in 2003, so it’s probably from the 2000s or early 2010s).

In the movie, a young boy is doing a science experiment in his bedroom. He researches online and injects something into an egg, like some kind of liquid or serum. Later, something hatches from the egg—I originally thought it might be a dinosaur, but it could also be a chick or some kind of strange creature.

I clearly remember the creature coming out of the egg while the boy wasn’t home, and later wandering around the house. I also remember the boy and possibly others trying to take care of it or watching over it.

It wasn’t a horror movie; more like a family sci-fi or adventure movie.
