Bfs Lack of effort
My bf (21) and I (f,23) have been together for a little over a year and a half. We have been living together for about a little over a year (moved in fast due to certain circumstances on both sides). At first things were well, but now I’m starting to stress.
My bf and I moved to a new city about a year ago. We currently live with his parents. He works 2x a week and gets paid biweekly while I work 5 days a week (plus I pick up doubles and some weeks I work 40+ hours) and get paid weekly.
Him and I are supposed to be saving up to get an apartment with my little sister (19) who is also working a full time job. The problem is, he makes shit hours and wouldn’t make enough to help pay bills in a 2 bedroom apartment.
I keep telling him he needs to either 1. Tell work to give him more hours or 2. Find another job, which would be best at this point. This battle of trying to get him more hours has been going on for what feels like months. I feel like I’m going in circles. I understand him getting more hours at work isn’t up to him completely, but TRYING to get another job is definitely do-able.
On his days off, and immediately after he gets off work he spends all this time playing video games. And I’m becoming very frustrated with this, I feel like he doesn’t care as much as I do and I don’t understand how he is okay with seeing his gf work so hard on top of doing photography on the side. I feel like the effort I put in is unmatched and I don’t want to continue to pick up his slack.
How should I approach this situation? I don’t want to end things with him. I just want effort so we can move out.
