Do I have to return my lost passport to ICA?

I recently lost my passport overseas. Declared it as missing and made a police report, went to the embassy to get the necessary documents to leave. Before I left, someone found my passport and passed it to the police and I picked it up before going home.

Afterwards, I read that I actually have to return the found passport to ICA. Problem is, I live in the West and I really don't want to head to Lavender just to do this, it's a big waste of time and they only open on weekdays which makes it challenging.

Do I actually have to return it? Or is this a case of act blur live longer?
