Help getting mending on Xbox Series X edition

Hello everyone. I’m having a hard time acquiring books of mending on the world I’m currently playing on with my wife. None of the methods available online seem to work. We have relocated several villagers to a swamp biome and they have become swamp villagers with purple clothes. Traded them fully to master level and they don’t have a mending book.

Next I tried the stick piston method but the villagers never change their jobs or lose the jobs they had so I can’t get them to change inventory. My current thought is that I need to kill and cycle through new villagers until I get one that happens to have mending but because of different editions, I’m honestly not sure what method I need to be using to obtain mending. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
