How different is life here from what you expected back in India?
I came to Singapore thinking it would feel like a "cleaner Mumbai with better infrastructure." I was so wrong and so right, all at once. Wrong because:
- People keep to themselves way more here. It’s not rude, just how things are.
- The food culture is totally different - prata isn't a replacement for paratha, no matter how similar it sounds.
- HDB life is quieter than I imagined. Sometimes eerily quiet.
Right because:
- The buses and trains actually run on time. Every. Single. Time.
- You can feel safe walking at 2 am with your phone out. That’s priceless.
Curious how your expectations matched reality when you first landed here. What surprised you most?
