City Rhythm + Gris Charnel Extrait Review

Fragrance Review

Finally ordered some new fragrance samples of what I thought I would like, and I am very surprised. Every sample I ended up getting smelled way different than the notes led me to believe. Overall not a bad thing, but it surprised me.

City Rhythm 2654 - This was the biggest let down out of the bunch. To me, it smells straight like your basic fruity candle. It is super light, and I got mostly coconut. A big contrary to the expected juniper blood orange mix with super strong performance. 6/10

City Rhythm Austin - Unlike 2654, this pleasantly surprised me. Didn't have a ton of reviews, but reviews described it as an angel's share with leather. I don't really get too much angel share, this one has a thicker more syrupy cloud and some more woody notes. Really like it, could see myself wearing in the winter. 9/10

City Rhythm Manhattan Midnight - For the middle of the city rhythm bunch, comes Manhattan Midnight. I kind of forget what it is supposed to smell like, but I get some deep herbal notes with frankincense and some smoky tones. I don't love it, but also don't hate it. 8/10

BDK Gris Charnel Extrait - Saw a lot of hype for this one, so I thought it was a good idea to include it with my other samples. Like 2654, it also is very difference from what I anticipated. Lots of reviewers said this was a comforting vanilla with some nice fig. I immediately got some synthetic green, which I suppose is the "fig." It kind of dominates for me, which makes it hard to enjoy the vanilla and other dark notes. 7/10
