Chronic hives + marijuana withdrawal flare up
So I’ve had chronic hives for 15 years and have partaken in marijuana for 10. I have also been on xolaire for 10 years (off/on) and have always been 100% clear when on Xolaire. This past January (January 10th), while on Xolaire, my hives returned… which had never happened before while I was on xolaire. My doctor and I decided we would double the dose and we tested that out for around 5-6 months, but things would not get better, in fact they got worse. Now my doctor has me on Dupixent (started first shot on June 19), which takes around 2-4 months usually to kick in and work. Things have gotten worse since June 19th, which my doctor warned me about.. she said things might get worse before they get better. I stopped vaping, which is how I primarily take in marijuana, and weed in general around 7 weeks ago just to test the waters and for the first 3 days my hives actually did get better, however on the 4th day it returned to being awful again and has progressively gotten worse since then. I also took a 2 week break from weed back in late December, a couple weeks before my hives initially returned. I’ve been doing some research and it looks like some people who have been partaking in marijuana for years and then suddenly stop cold turkey experience stress on the body resulting in flare ups from their chronic conditions. Something about how the mast cells within the body become confused and stressed. So my question is, should I start marijuana again? Maybe I should just take edibles to start, or should I just vape a little here and there? I literally used to vape all day every day, so maybe the sudden stop in December shocked my body? I don’t know…would love some advice. Thank you!
