Cyclone 2 and G7 pro steam deck Bluetooth connection help!

Anybody have any idea why the cyclone 2 won't connect to a steam deck via Bluetooth in xinput mode? After doing some research, it didn't seem possible and I got the impression there was some kind of licensing deal with gamesir. But now that I have a second gamesir product (G7 pro), it connects to my deck in xinput mode no problem. It now seems like a hardware issue with the cyclone 2. Anyone have a similar issue and able to get it to connect so it shows the correct Xbox layout instead of a PlayStation one?
