Reconciliation analysts — what manual tasks are still eating up your time?

Discussion

Hi all,
I work as a reconciliation analyst and was reflecting on how many small, repetitive tasks still happen manually, even when everything else feels automated.

For example, I still spend way too much time manually comparing data between internal ledgers and third-party statements (bank feeds, custodians, etc.), especially when formats aren’t aligned or there are slight date mismatches. Sometimes I’m literally adjusting Excel formulas row by row or chasing down tiny differences that should’ve been caught upstream.

Just curious, what parts of your reconciliation work are still manual, frustrating, or feel like they could be automated but aren’t (yet)? Would love to know what others are dealing with day to day.
