Struggling with fights in early act 2

I'm really struggling with fights in early act 2. Losing Gustave was of course very emotional but also very very inconvenient for me. I put everything into him, primarily played as him (also when you had to fight solo) and he was the only character whose fighting style and skills i had fun with. Everyone else was always more of a support to him. I can't seem to manage to get into Versos skills or fighting style and my damage and team work has taken a real hit. Is this something that's normal at the beginning of act 2 and you just need more practice or am i just unlucky because i put so much focus on Gustave? I'm really struggling with continuing the game right now :/
