Weird weekend

It's been just over 7 months since I've stopped drinking. I've been to plenty of events where drinking is prevalent. Normally I give myself around 3 hours at drink heavy events before I leave. I've found that it takes around 3 hours before people start to become noticeably drunk.

Anyhow, we hosted a party at our house for around 25 people. The age range varied from 30 to 55+. It started around 6pm and the last people left around 1am. It was...interesting. Most people stayed relatively sober. Some left early but the people who stayed late were in bad shape. Slurring words, being loud, etc. One of our friends fell and was bleeding. Another was crying and emotional for some reason that I couldn't quite figure out. Totally different actions from when they're sober.

Of course I'm not judging, I've been there more than I care to admit but I've tried to stay away from seeing those things which is why I usually leave after 3 hours. But, this being at my house, I had to be there. It was kind of shocking to see the night transform from a fun get together with good conversations to people falling and slurring.

It made me thankful that I was sober.
