Hi, this is my second question on this great subreddit! :)

For context, here’s a link to my [first question](https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/1mhh9l0/i_really_love_simracing_but/) if needed.

I’m currently thinking about steering wheels that are compatible with the Fanatec ClubSport DD+. I know that most products have a compatibility list on their pages, but sometimes it seems like the compatibility is limited or a bit unclear.

Here are the steering wheels I'm currently considering:

1. ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2.5 (https://fanatec.com/eu-en/steering-wheels/clubsport-steering-wheel-formula-v2.5)
2. ClubSport Steering Wheel RS (https://fanatec.com/eu-en/steering-wheels/clubsport-steering-wheel-rs)
3. ClubSport Wheel Rim Drift (https://www.fanatec.com/eu/en/p/wheel-rims/uh\_rdrift/clubsport-wheel-rim-drift)
4. CSL Elite Steering Wheel Porsche Vision GT (https://www.fanatec.com/eu/en/p/steering-wheels/csl\_e\_sw\_pvgt/csl-elite-steering-wheel-porsche-vision-gt)

And then there are two “magic items” I'm trying to understand better:

* QR2 Wheel-side (https://www.fanatec.com/eu/en/p/sim-racing-accessories/qr2\_ws/qr2-wheel-side)
* Podium Hub + QR2 Wheel-side (https://www.fanatec.com/eu/en/p/sim-racing-accessories/p\_hub\_qr2/podium-hub-qr2)

I understand that some kind of connection is needed between the wheel base and the steering wheel. But if I understand correctly, when using a bare rim (like option #3 or one of [those](https://www.fanatec.com/eu/en/c/wheel-rims)), you must use the "Podium Hub + QR2 Wheel-Side", right? But here’s my confusion: If the wheel doesn’t have any buttons or electronics (like #3), why isn’t the basic "QR2 Wheel-Side" enough? Why do I need the "Podium Hub + QR2 Wheel-Side"?

Second thing I’m trying to understand: Some wheels come with a preinstalled "QR2 Lite Wheel-Side" (like #4), but using it limits the torque of the DD+ base. Does that mean that if I want to get the full torque, I need to upgrade those wheels with "Podium Hub + QR2 Wheel-Side"?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)
