Learning Vocabulary

I'm trying to leave Duolingo and I am developing my own strategy to learning French. This group has shared some great ideas.

One area I'm weak in (okay, I'm weak in a number of places) is vocabulary. Can you suggest strategies for expanding one's French vocabulary?
