How long has this been going on?

No parents allowed past the entryway, really, no admission to the school to meet anyone. For context we recently moved to the area. This is for elementary school. I was in K-12 from 1994-2006 in the Americana part of Alaska (not really rural).

None of the schools in our new location in the US allow casual parent admission to meet with office staff or otherwise.

Could you please give me context for this? The security is so much increased its nearly like a prison.
