nexplanon bleeding

I got nexplanon inserted 2 weeks ago, 3 days after my period began. I've been bleeding heavily since the week following the implant. I understand this is typical, and I've left a message for my obgyn to hopefully find some sort of resolution or way to mitigate these effects. My main worry is how much energy I'm losing.

What can I do in the meantime to keep my body functioning the best it can? Iron is really all I can think of.
