How do you give your cats pills if they won’t stop chewing them / spitting them up?
My cat has an allergy to dander and she really needs meds so the fur on her belly grows back, but she will not take them no matter what. (It’s antihistamine pills dosed for cats)
I’ve tried the pill pockets, hiding them in those lick-able treat tubes or food toppers, in wet food too. I’ve tried just getting her to take them like you can with a dog by placing it near the back of their mouth, nope. Every time she bites down, then violently spits it out and runs away in anger.
Giving her the occasional medicated bath and using chlorhexidine wipes and spray on her skin helps a bit. She already has FLUTD and is on a prescription diet.
What meds for cats can I ask my vet for or order online that my cat will actually take? Can I give her a shot? A needle would be easier to administer than the pills, I’ve done it several times before (obviously given to me by my vet to give to my cat ) with various health issues she’s had and she handled a needle better than she can taking those damn antihistamines. I just don’t know what to do to get her to stop spitting them out.
