Period on nexplanon

So I got my nexplanon inserted back in december after being on depo (injections) for about 4 years. With the shots I did not have any periods but I started about 6 months after I got the nexplanon installed to have periods (exactly like I used to have when not being on birth control) but my period this month is weird as it keeps being on and off like one day I'll be bleeding the next I won't. My doctor told me everything will stop at the 1 year mark but does that decrease in bleeding could mean that my bleeding is going away ? Or am I going to be stuck bleeding every other day? I know the nexplanon can cause weird bleeding but I find it very weird that I was back to my regular 5 day periods once a month and now it's changing again.
