Old Pumps

Just a curiosity, I am only 23 weeks and just learning about pumping.

I see quite a few posts saying that certain pumps did not work for them for various reasons. What are we doing with the pumps that didn't work out? Are we selling them? Storing for possibly later use?

I am fortunate enough that I have insurance to cover a wide range of pumps and newer models, but if I request one and it doesn't work out I know I cannot request another pump and it would be out of pocket. But what would I do with the old pump? It didn't work for me but I imagine it would for someone else.
