Is this what nocturnal seizures feel like?
I (29f) have been experiencing some really strange feelings at night time. It is almost indescribable. It seems to happen when I am falling asleep or in a state of consciousness where I am sleeping very lightly, but the sensation wakes me up. The best way I can try to describe it. Is that my whole body feels like it is dead weight and that my muscles are 1000 pounds but also like there is an electric current running through my entire body. It feels like my brain is telling me I need to move, but for some reason, I don’t know if I am resisting moving or if I can’t move. But then after maybe a minute or 30 seconds it’s hard to tell how long it’s been with that feeling but I will jolt awake and recently when I jolt awake, I am having borderline convulsions or realize I’m doing really strange jerking movements with my hands. Something similar I can maybe describe it as is that it feels like a brain zap when you come off of anti-anxiety medication except it’s not just my brain. It’s my whole entire body. It will happen for an hour or two repeatedly over and over again. It has only happened a handful of times since early July. I am on an anti-seizure medication, but it is to treat bipolar 2. I am of course going to talk to my doctor about this. I have an appointment tomorrow, but have been very anxious about falling back asleep and have this overwhelming sense of dread because I think it’s going to happen again and the feeling is horrible what do you all think? Do any of you have similar feelings and has it turned out to be nocturnal seizures? Or are the feelings I’m describing not similar to nocturnal seizures and maybe just extreme anxiety? Or sleep paralysis? I haven’t been able to figure out any correlations with habits that seem to provoke the sensations happening.
