Am I overreacting for still being annoyed by something that happened 2 years ago?
I’m annoyed with my SIL about something she texted me almost 2 years ago- but it started a few years earlier. During her wedding planning (June 2020) I told her I didn’t feel comfortable attending a group event but would happily go dress shopping, with masks and restrictions. She was upset with me and asked me if I stopped taking my anxiety medication (she was one of my few friends who knew about me needing anxiety medication). I went showed up for her bachelorette and her wedding- staying in a hotel even though I felt uncomfortable. I was forced to get my hair and makeup done by her people, even though my mom is a hairdresser because I would have been “too late” for getting ready (she required us to be at her hotel room at 7 am the day of the wedding).
We were distant since then but about a year or two ago she texted me upset about her grandfather being sick. I quickly offered support from my husband who works in the medical field. She then let me know that it was pneumonia and he was already home on antibiotics. But the thing I am still annoyed by is her next text saying “I’m not sure what’s worse, getting the text I did about my grandpa that could lead to potential fatalities or getting the call like you did about your grandpa.”
The call I got? My grandpa a was shoveling in Christmas Day, had a heart attack, and died on the way to the hospital.
