Employee safety question

My franchise owner wanted the top of our oven cleaned so the GM put the task on me. I was told to grab a ladder and a hot bag for my legs because the oven was on. Now I’m not a genius but I have a feeling people shouldn’t be aloud on top of an oven. I have a video of me on there, I would just like for someone to tell me if this is against any rules and if I should go to anyone about this?
