“I loved. I used too.”

Is there a book/novel where the mc chased the love of another character but then just gave up completely? The other character realizes but there is no make-up scene. The mc just gave up then and there. No satisfying “i love you too” just “ i loved. Well, I used to.”

I would love some suggestions if there are any, all of them are much appreciated!
